Wellington Symphonic Bands

"Beautiful tone, sensitive phrasing, and expressive musicality" - Dr Rich Roberts

Musical Director

Lead A High Performing Community Band

Wellington Symphonic Bands is a community band organisation consisting of the Wellington City Concert Band (WCCB) and Capital City Wind Band (CCWB).  The two bands are governed by a dedicated and motivated committee who the musical directors report to.  An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Musical Director to lead WCCB.

This is a high performing community band with diverse and highly motivated amateur musicians with a musical competence from about grade 7 up.

This role involves music selection for the band, conducting rehearsals (2 hours weekly from 6.30-8.30pm Tuesdays) and performances (approximately 4 per year).  Developing the band including increasing audiences and seeking out performance opportunities will be part of the role.  The band competes annually at the concert band festival and WEBO.

Enjoying playing while developing through exposure to challenging music is important to the band.

We are looking for a leader who will challenge and develop the band at an appropriate pace while contributing to a fun and energising creative environment.

If this sounds like you we would love to hear from you.

Applications close Tuesday 31 December 2019.
