Wellington Symphonic Bands

"Beautiful tone, sensitive phrasing, and expressive musicality" - Dr Rich Roberts

Wellington City Concert Band

The Wellington City Concert Band is for more experienced musicians of any age, approximately grade VII and above.

We are pleased to announce that from January 2020, Mike Ashton accepted the role of Musical Director for WCCB.

The band plays a dynamic and varied programme each year and is Wellingtons largest community symphonic band with over 50 musicians. The band performs challenging music at a high standard as recognised in 2016 by winning the WEBO Outstanding Performance Award, adjudicated by Dr Richard Roberts. Whilst fun and social, the band works hard to achieve excellence in playing with many semi-pro musicians attracted to join as well as the top school aged wind, brass and percussion players.

The WCCB rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 6.30-8.30 in The Theatre at Wellington College . Entry is by audition and an 80% attendance at practices and concerts is the expectation for those wishing to join the band.
